Bethany and Brandon Smail have put to rest the idea that weddings must be extravagant affairs. Their intimate ceremony and charming reception matched any boastful party I’ve photographed. The Daytona couple had all that they needed as they united their families on the picturesque white sands of Honeymoon Island.
Before the ceremony, Bethany was joined by her daughter and flower girl, Peyton, and her mother. It was an especially emotional occasion as both the bride and her mother pained from the absence of Bethany’s sister, who passed away. Separate from his beloved, Brandon straightened up in the crisp, salty air and lent his son, Liam, a hand with his bowtie. Watching Brandon, it was clear he so badly wanted to marry his bride.
When the ceremony commenced, Bethany was escorted by her father to her anxiously waiting husband. The sun basked the beautiful couple and their children in an angelic glow that radiated love. It was a priceless moment as family members witnessed with watery eyes. I must admit, even I found it difficult not to get swept up in the beauty of the ceremony.
Inspired by the sheer, magnificent drama of their wedding, Bethany decided she wanted to round out their portraits with something impactful. In her stunning, shimmering dress, she stepped out into the warm October waters.
It was a day that Bethany, Brandon, Peyton, and Liam will surely remember forever. I certainly know I won’t soon forget meeting this caring, intoxicating family.
