Cake smashes are one of my favorite sessions! They’re adorable, and fun, and sometimes they the very first time your babe has had cake or icing, and their reactions are priceless!
Some parents have trouble coming up with a theme, or inspiration they’d like to include in their cake smash. A couple questions I like to ask when planning are,
1. Do you want it to match the theme of their party? While this is a great idea, sometimes it can ‘date’ your images, and possibly alter where you may want to display them in your home!
2. Where would you like to keep these images? Online, In your living room, play room, or in an album? This will factor into how we should approach a theme in your session.
3. Do you want something very simple and minimal? THIS IS MY FAVORITE! I love when all the attention is just on your babe! Capturing that first year of growth, and how they’ve changed since you brought them home for the very first time. Something timeless, that can live on your hallway or living room wall, until they’re far past the stage of eating cake with their hands!
I had the honor of capturing Bradens newborn photos, and now he’s ONE! We opted for a minimal theme for his smash, with neutrals and greenery. Focusing on those sweet chubby cheeks! For the portrait part of his session, since his daddy is a professional golfer, we had to include the sport that he and Braden share a love of!
With a naked cake, topped with some sweet snuggly mommy pictures, and a milk bath, this is one adorable ONE YEAR OLD! Check out some of my favorites from his session!
